Alappuzha or Alleppey also referred to as “Venice of the east” is situated on the confluence of Vembanad Lake, Kerala’s biggest backwaters, and the Arabian Sea, offering a setting like nowhere else in the world. Its beauty is not merely in its backwaters, but in the man-made islands that you will find amidst the waters. These islands are hedged by mud walls, a haven for migratory birds, with paddy fields inundated with water through the year. These islands are special as they lie below the sea level and are found only here… Cruise along slowly in these intricate networks of canals (Kayals) passing through villages and paddy fields.

Enjoy the cruise in Vembanadu Lake, the serene backwaters of Kerala….. check-in to the meandering canals and swinging coconut palms…..witness the paddy fields of Kuttanad, perhaps the only place in the world where cultivation is done at 2mts below sea-level……an experience to cherish for life……..Also enjoy freshly cooked Kerala cuisine in the boat….

Large Kettuvalloms (traditional country crafts over 60ft. in length) have been renewed into luxury houseboats for these cruises The Vallam Kali (the Snake Boat Race) held every year in August is a major attraction. 12km from Kottayam, this unique backwater destination situated on the banks of the Vembanad lake is considered the gateway to the backwaters of Kuttanad.

This beach is very quiet, clean, and unspoilt. The name Marari is shortened from from Mararikulam, a small and sleepy fisherman's village. The weather at Marari is warm and humid throughout the year. Marari isn't a tourist beach but rather a peaceful place to relax and unwind. Those who visit Marari look forward to the slow pace of life, and soaking up the serenity and tranquility on the deserted sandy beaches. A number of interesting day trips are possible around the area. These include the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, traditional coir-making units, and the Kerala backwater canals.

After an active day of shopping, back to Marari simply sit and relax, watch the sun go down over the horizon and get ready for a leisurely dinner at the resort. After dinner you can rediscover the art of conversation with your fellow holidaymakers. have a relaxing drink at the bat or just enjoy a quite moment on your veranda reflecting on the day's events. Until now Marari has been one of India's best kept secrets.

We have a feeling it won't stay a secret for long, so try it now and be one of the first to experience undiscovered Kerala!
